We finally went to Netflix and watched what is listed as one of the top Netflix shows in the Philippines. Yes, we’re talking about the KDrama The King: Eternal Monarch.
Some of friends said they don’t go for stories about princes, kings, or emperors, but somehow the sci-fi vibe and parallel universes intrigued me.
Now that we’re here, I’ll go on and experiment also with animated GIFs, through the power of the plugin GiphyPress.
If only I could find the Giphy GIF Search button… Should I click on the 3 vertical dots and shift to the Code Editor of WordPress?
Nope, that didn’t work. The search continues…
On the upper righthand corner of this 2020 WordPress editor is a plus symbol inside a circle.
After clicking on that, I scrolled down to Formatting. Under Formatting is a keyboard icon, and hovering my mouse over that showed the words “Classic Editor.”
Hmm. Something worth trying!
Here I am inside the Classic Editor. Still, no sign of the Giphy GIF Search button, though.
Okay, found it! It looks like a simple gray rectangle with a folded corner. When you move your mouse over it, that gray borders come alive with color!
Now let’s test it…
How do we center the above GIF?
Ack! Used the Indent button inside the Classic Editor to force the image towards the center. This won’t look that great in mobile browsers, though.
Okay, so we went back to the Modern Editor and can’t see the Giphy GIF search button anymore in this block.
Not exactly easy to use, but then again, how often do you want to embed animated GIFs in your blog post?
By the way, that’s Kim Go-eun who plays Detective Jeong Tae-eul.
Nope, she doesn’t need double-eyelids.
Let’s experiment with this block.
If we convert this to a regular block, will we now be able to center the image?
Nope, tranforming the block doesn’t make the Center button work.
What does work is using the shift key to select the image, and then using the Center button.
Finally! I’ve learned how to center those Giphy animated GIFs in a WordPress post.
Am I taking a risk composing this blog post right within the WordPress editor? What if a glitch in the internet connection makes this post disappear?
That’s what the Save Draft link is for. So use it regularly!
Have caught up all the way to Episode 10 (although I don’t understand how Detective Tae-eul quickly transformed from a hard-nosed, no-nonsense taekwondo black belt, to a weepy little girl.
The change felt so sudden.
Anyway, let’s see what’s in store for us in Episodes 11 to 16.
